Introduction

Version 6 of the MyParcel plugin for WooCommerce has been rebuilt from the ground up. In September 2026, v6 replaces the current version 4 in the WordPress plugin store, and everyone switches through the regular plugin update. Want to stay ahead of any issues? Install v6 manually now, that way we at MyParcel can really take the time to help you if you run into anything.

On this page you'll read what changes compared to version 4, and you'll walk through the migration step by step.

Because v6 is a complete rebuild, the settings have been reorganized as well. The plugin migrates your v4 settings automatically where possible, but go through all settings after installation to check that everything is set up correctly and works as expected.

What's different in v6?

The plugin has been rewritten from scratch on the MyParcel platform (PDK). You'll notice it everywhere: a new settings page, support for the latest WooCommerce technology, and carrier capabilities that come straight from the MyParcel API. Version 4 only receives maintenance, all new functionality lands in v6.

When do you switch?

  • Now (recommended), install v6 manually using the step-by-step guide below. You pick the moment, test at your own pace, and our support team has all the time for you.
  • September 2026, v6 lands in the WordPress plugin store and replaces version 4. Everyone then switches through the regular plugin update.

Step-by-step: from v4 to v6

Step 1: Make a backup

Make a full backup of your website and database before you start. If anything goes wrong, you can restore everything in one go.

Step 2: Test on a staging environment first

Run the migration on a test or staging environment first, not directly on your live shop. That way you see exactly what the new settings look like, and you test the entire order flow without any risk to your customers. No staging environment? Most hosting providers offer one, ask your host or developer.

Step 3: Download the latest v6 release

  1. Go to the releases page on GitHub.
  2. Pick the latest v6 version (at the top of the list).
  3. Under Assets, download the plugin's zip file.

Step 4: Install the plugin manually

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.
  2. Select the downloaded zip file and click Install Now.
  3. WordPress recognizes that the MyParcel plugin is already installed and asks whether you want to replace the current version. Choose Replace current with uploaded.
  4. After installation, click Activate Plugin.

The plugin migrates your existing settings, orders and labels automatically. Your API key stays connected, your order history and created shipments remain in place.

Using the Belgian SendMyParcel plugin? The upgrade to v6 involves a plugin rename, so the steps above don't apply 1-on-1. Contact our support before migrating, we'll guide you through the switch.

Step 5: Go through all your settings

Open WooCommerce > MyParcel and check every part of the new settings page. Pay attention to at least:

  • Connection, is the plugin connected to your MyParcel account?
  • General, order statuses, automatic export and label format
  • Carriers, are all your carriers enabled, with the right shipment options (signature, insurance, age check)?
  • Checkout, delivery options, pickup locations and the costs per delivery option
  • Product settings, per-product overrides (for example mailbox parcel or country of origin)
  • Emails, Track & Trace link in the order confirmation

Step 6: Test the complete order flow

  1. Place a test order in your checkout and check that the delivery options show up correctly.
  2. Export the order to MyParcel and print the label.
  3. Check that the Track & Trace link appears in the email to your customer.
  4. Using the WooCommerce blocks checkout? Test that separately as well.

Whether test labels incur costs differs per carrier. For most carriers nothing is charged as long as the label isn't scanned, but digital stamps, for example, are charged immediately.

Step 7: Repeat the steps on your live shop

Everything working on your staging environment? Then run steps 1 and 3 through 6 on your production environment. Plan the switch at a quiet moment, and go through the settings and a test order there too.

Something not working?

  • Back to v4, restore your backup, or reinstall the latest v4 release from the releases page on GitHub. Your shipments remain available in your Backoffice.
  • Need help?, contact our support team by phone, chat or WhatsApp. Especially during this period, we take the time for your migration.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to switch now?

You don't have to, but you can. In September 2026, v6 lands in the WordPress plugin store and everyone switches through the regular update. Switch manually now and you pick the moment yourself, test at your own pace, and our support team can help you 1-on-1 if needed.

Do my orders and labels remain?

Yes. Your order history, created shipments and labels stay in place. The plugin migrates your data and settings automatically during the update.

Do I need to enter my API key again?

No, your connection to MyParcel remains. After installation, do check that the plugin is still connected to your MyParcel account.

Why do you recommend a staging environment?

Version 6 has been completely rewritten, with a new layout for all settings. On a staging environment you see exactly what changes, and you test the checkout, export and emails without your customers noticing anything.

Can I stay on v4?

Version 4 only receives maintenance and security updates. New carriers, shipment options and functionality only come to v6. And from September 2026, v6 is the version in the WordPress plugin store.
